Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria. Situated on the two banks of the Maritza River since its foundation it has always played an important historical role, evidence of which can be seen on the whole territory of the town. Undoubtedly the most interesting is the architectural and historical reserve “The Old Town of Plovdiv” with more than 200 monuments of culture. One can also see and admire the Ancient Roman Theater, the Ancient Stadium, the churches “ St. Constantine and Helena” and “St. Marina”, houses from the period of the National Revival, etc.
