Located on the Drina River, the bridge of Mehmed Pasha Sokolović is one of the main tourist sites in Visegrad. The massive stone bridge is the work of the prominent Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan and is 180 m long. It was built in the middle of the 16th century on the initiative of Mehmed Pasha Sokolović, Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. The beloved writer Ivo Andrić tells his story in his famous novel - "The Drina Bridge". Today, the site is included in the list of world and cultural heritage of UNESCO.
